Portland, OR, Feb 17 2010 - On January 29, 2010, the Portland Police responded to a call at the Sandy Terrace Apartments. Aaron Campbell, a 25 year old African American male, was reportedly suicidal and armed. Aaron Campbell was shot in the back by a Portland Police officer as he exited the apartment, walking backwards and with his hands on his head. The Police Officer that shot Campbell was an AR-15 marksman with the Portland Police and he testifies that he thought Campbell was reaching for a gun. Aaron Campbell was unarmed.

A few weeks later, on February 17, a large gathering took to the steps of the Justice Building in DownTown Portland. This protest was led by Dr. LeRoy Haynes of the Albina Ministerial Alliance and was followed by a march to City Hall.

It is unclear at this time what, if any, action will result from this incident.
